A reliable operating system
NetVanta 3000/4000/5000 routers employ the ADTRAN Operating System (AOS) for advanced standards-based functionality, interoperability across NetVanta platforms (switch, router, VPN), and ease of integration in multi-vendor networks. Multiple versions of the AOS can coexist on a NetVanta router, simplifying the testing of newly released versions and permitting system backup. New enhancements to firmware can be implemented throughout a network using TFTP or FTP update from a central location.
Standards-Based Protocols
The AOS makes quick and responsive IP routing decisions based on the configuration options and protocols selected. It supports static and default routes, demand and policy-based routing, as well as popular protocols, such as eBGP/iBGP, OSPF, RIP, GRE, and PIM Sparse. Bridging is used to support all other non-IP protocols. For wide area connectivity, Frame Relay, Multilink Frame Relay, ATM (ADSL) PPP, Multilink PPP, PPPoE, PPPoA, RFC 1483 and HDLC protocols are supported.
Top-notch network security
The NetVanta series includes a comprehensive security portfolio designed to protect valuable corporate information resources against security threats, while enabling employee access to those resources. NetVanta’s stringent line of defense includes a stateful inspection firewall to identify and protect against common Denial of Service (DoS) attempts, as well as numerous user authentication procedures to protect against unauthorized access.
